Sensors detecting visitor presence at the newly opened Coal Gallery are used to start this pre-recorded sound-only piece, consisting of two separate spatially positioned channels, dividing the room.

One, by the window, recreates the outside ambience, and in the first part of the story, the staff are loading up the coal supplies by the bucketful, pulled up from a nearby horse cart.

The second, by the water boiler, recreates the ambience of burning coal and boiling water, and is used for a later conversation between the maids.
